Virgin of Tenderness of Belgrade. A classic among tender Virgins in Eastern iconography. The Virgin of Belgrade conveys remarkable beauty, warm and radiant in her colors. She holds her Son with profound maternal tenderness, their faces turned toward each other in intimate affection.
Originally designed by our artistic director and painted by our iconographers in our workshop in southern Burgundy, France. The icon is then reproduced on a wood panel, hand-gilded to the leaf, and finished with enamelled varnish applied by brush. Each piece is finished by hand, so slight variations from one icon to another are part of the craft.

Each icon carries centuries of tradition. The composition, the gesture, the colours follow a long-standing language; we redraw the line and lay the gold without modernising what was meant to stay still.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners; the enamelled varnish is meant to age slowly and gain depth over years of careful handling.
