Virgin of Mount Kykkos · 15,5 × 11,8 cm
Virgin of Mount Kykkos. One of the most celebrated icons of the Byzantine world. Tradition holds that this icon was painted by Saint Luke himself and was venerated by a community of hermits on the mountain of Kykkos. Its fame has spread throughout the Christian world as a source of grace.
Originally designed by our artistic director and painted by our iconographers in our workshop in southern Burgundy, France. The icon is then reproduced on a wood panel, hand-gilded to the leaf, and finished with enamelled varnish applied by brush. Each piece is finished by hand, so slight variations from one icon to another are part of the craft.

A meaningful gift for baptism, birth, communion and confirmation.
Each icon carries centuries of tradition. The composition, the gesture, the colours follow a long-standing language; we redraw the line and lay the gold without modernising what was meant to stay still.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners; the enamelled varnish is meant to age slowly and gain depth over years of careful handling.
